Is it very hard to find a doctor who is able to prescribe regular medication that one may require? (For example - thyroid medication, and insulin & supplies for a diabetic?)

Thanks for your reply. It's good to know that there are doctors available.
Does anyone know of the cost of insulin & supplies? Are they comparable to the cost of these supplies in North America?

I can assure you, you will pay pennies on the dollar for similar out of pocket costs in the US. The Metropolitan Hospital in Quito is comparable to any level II hospital in the US and has most of the same advanced imaging and medical devices that you would find in most hospitals in the US. The new hospital in Cumbaya is even more advanced.
