Europian girl in Kerala

Hello,

I am planning to move to Kerala, I have question if it is safe place for living, how is with language is it necessary Malayalam or with English would be fine? How is with finding a job? Is it really difficult? People are there very traditional? There is a lot of foreigners?

Most of the kerlites working in Bangalore or out of the country. In Kerala it's hard to find a job . After 7pm it's hard to find a transport. People  are well educated and it's  famous for tourism.  Gods own country Kerala.

Hi! Which place in Kerala? Rural Kerala people don't speak English. They don't know hindi too.
Place is safe. Much safer than many other places in India. I don't know about the jobs. I guess many people go abroad as there is unemployment. But depends on your experience.

Kerala has one of the highest rates of crime against woman in India. It is a patriarchal society out there. Think twice before you move to this place.
It's definitely Devil's own citadel from what my European women friends have told me. A Scandinavian girl, a friend of mine, had to leave Trivandrum for Pune as she faced molestation from the locals and her landlord there.

Don't get carried away by the Indian tourism ads. It is certainly one of the most dangerous places for women in India.

Hello L,im prashanth and Kerala is a beautiful place to settle in,its the closest to nature compared to the other cities..there are a Lotta foreigners who go there to study mainly ayurveda and panchakarma..i had a friend who just finished and left..its safe and definitely way cheaper than any of the metro cities..please feel free to msg me if you need any info or help,I would be happy to help..im from the south and have a few contacts in Kerala and if you need any help I'll try to help

Hi,
I am a woman from Germany and i live since 2011 in Kerala.I cant say it is safe or not. you never knows who will be the next person in front of you. I met realy wonderful amazing people here . The hospitality of Kerala is incredible . I found my home in Gods own country. . BUT i made also bad experiences. Most of the  men ( not all !!!) want only one thing from a western woman. I dont must explain it here. think you know, what i mean. A lot of western tourist women coming to Kerala for having fun with the Kerala men. So the point is, they people thinking...all women want the same....its realy bad, but its true.  you must be very strong and taff. This kind of men see us in a different way. They want first your friendship, then suddenly is an uncle in a hospital and they need money for him... but the worst thing is, they see us as a porn queen. I met a lot of european women with brocken hearts and empty purse... I think , you are very young and it will be may an adventure for you...but please think twice before you move to Kerala or to India. If you have contacts or a place where you want to go, then it must be okay. I recommend, to move not alone...better is you have someone with you.
its up to you...i am settled here now, i know how they people are, i know culture, tradition and how they thinking. they people know and respect me. It was a long way. And i feel still welcome. but if you are a new girl in Kerala be careful.... If youare may be a sunshine girl, nothing will happen to you. I am sure you will have the best time in your life. You only must know what you want  and then it will be okay for you ..all the best and good luck  :)
Tha mara

Tha Mara has rightly wrote the facts about Kerala. Getting job is not easy unless you are a professional and can carry on independant activities. Don't end up getting exploited, cheated and be street smart. When in need they will make you feel you are a queen and dump the moment you are out of money and nothing to offer for more exploitation. Why Kerala and why not a safer place in India.
