Hola!

For those that are new to Paraguay, you may find the whole grocery shopping experience to be quite different than back home. While the first stages of your experience will most likely revolve around the many amazing restaurants that the country has to offer, you'll eventually come back down to earth and start eating more appropriately to protect your health (Paraguayan diets don't typically contain a lot of vegetables).

My wife (who is a registered dietician in Canada) put together a helpful list of tips you can use to stay healthy while enjoying the wonderful cuisine of this beautiful country.

Enjoy!

I am amazed (and disappointed) that so many non-vegetable/fruit foods contain added sugar or  artificial sweetners (poisonous!)...almost all yogurts, ground coffee contains sugar!. I wanted to buy natural peanut butter but couldn't find any that did not contain sugar.

Yep, you can´t find raw organic coconut oil easily either.
On the other hand, you have so many herbs to detox and benefit from, for very cheap, available at all supermarkets, presented in small closed flat transparent plastic bags.
Cow Meat here I would say is far healthier than meat elsewhere.t
And there are still many things that are grown without pesticides, though they don´t have the money to certify it (if only it were the rule to produce organic ...;))
And, most importantly you Now have at least 3 or 4 serious services that deliver Organic vegetables etc to your home address or whatever address you give them. This is a very nice change and it´s coming from "thinking" people.
