The first casino in VN, MGM Grand Ho Tram

Hi everybody,

As we know on the public media means, the world-standard resort Ho Tram will be open soon with casino-license granted. What do you think about the new destination for entertainment, shopping and leisure ? For all of you, expat, you are allowed to enter casino according to Vietnamese laws. So if your girlfriend (of course Vietnamese nationality) accompany with you, for sure you have to leave her behind. What will you do in this case ? Anway hope you enjoy this topic. Any experience shared will be appreciated.

as I know, MGM already pull out the agreement to manage this 5 star resort. Last month as me and my friends want to book this hotel they said not yet opened and don't know when. It seems they having issue with local authorities

As long as the Casino is not open for business for locals, it's a failure. When I wants to gamble I go to Vegas, I go to VN to relax

uhm they target the Chinese anyway. Other gambling/gaming venues seem to be doing just fine without the locals.

Is there enough foreigners in Vietnam to sustain a Casino ??

Build it and they will come.

I have 15 years of casino experience and interested in what kind of pay is MGM Ho Tram paying. I'm presently living in the USA. I had just visit Ha Noi a couple of months ago. Love the weather there. I was born and raise in South Vietnam. I came to the USA in 1975. I like to speak Vietnamese so I would not forget the language. This is probably a good opportunity if the casino pay a decent salary to work in Vietnam.

From my past casino experience. If there's a casino around it will attract players. Many folks who like the thrill of entertainment out there.

AS a player or actually working there  :D

No idea what kind of pay they are offering, but MGM pulled out of the deal and no longer fund any part of it.
I was recently approached about a job there in my field, but elected not to follow it up. It's far too uncertain of a project for my liking at the moment.

I thought  that it was going to open today. July the 26.

Bought and sold.
Invested and resold.
For tens of millions.
It's a hard luck case.

Closed and ophaned before opening  :sosad:

I used to work as a dice, blackjack, roulette dealer, supervisor, manager. I'm interested in a position at the casino but will they pay enough to live abroad.

Have you seen where the casino is, its in the middle of sand dunes, no town to speak of except Vung Tau 45 minutes away.

Here's a video of someone driving to Ho Tram Casino. Yep middle of nowhere amongst sand dunes.

Ho Tram Casino

Hi Khanh. Can u please tell me what the international codes or number u use to call South Vietnam. I can call my uncle in North Vietnam with 01184 n the numbers but I can not call my cousin in South Vietnam. She lives twenty minutes from Vung Tau. Thanks.

Calling abroad to vietnam

It depends on the city. So yeah it's usually 011+84+area code+7 digit phone number.

Though if you're calling cell phone might have to stick a 1 in there.

so it'll be 011+84+1+area code+7 digit phone number

When MGM was involved the only foreigners they were going to hire would have been temporary.

I'm a US citizen living in America with Vegas gaming experience.

Well if you like swimming in the ocean everyday go for it. I think it will be a lot different atmosphere than Vegas with just the one casino resort. Not much action elsewhere. Probably laid back. Depends if you're the type that likes serenity and quietness.

I might give it a shot seeing it's 1.5 hours from where I'll be staying. Just for some extra money if they have anything part-time.

Chances are that they don't pay very well. Depending on your level of standard of living and if you are going alone or with family to support? Something to think about?

You're absolutely right. I had recently visit my uncle which I had never met in North Vietnam. Their living are simple and I fall in love with my home land. It reminded me of when I was little living in South Vietnam. That is the reason why I'm interested in living abroad one day. I just wonder about how the casino pay consider that they will not allow local to gamble. This means high roller tourists n us currency n I think they should pay decent since the sophisticated folks are living it up. You know what I mean!

The FIRST casino in Vietnam is up north in Do Son, just outside Haiphong. It is a miniture compared to Grand Ho Tram.

They will have a tough time pulling high rollers I think, the journey from hcmc to vt is quite long unless their hellipad is going to be ready soon to ferry high rollers from hcmc airport to the casino
