can anyone tell me why there is shortage of these brands bottled waters,,,n which shops in rehab stock these brands of water? we dont consume anyh other water brands and dont have a dispenser at the moment to call nestle also heard that the factory of nestle was put on fire so they rnt delivering water anymore/

basicus

Get a water filter. They sell them several places in Rehab. It solves your problem. We bought the 4 filter system from Tank. Works just fine.

Take care with the water filters
the filters are against particulates - not bacteria, and they don't remove the chlorine (alot of which is added to the water here - and unless you change them frequently then they don't work anyway.
(BTW - used to the the plant manager of a water factory).
In the UAE I had a water filter on the washer - keep out the dirt / grains of sand, etc. when washing the clothes - and ou will be surprised at how dirty they get.

But have been wondering the same thing - where are the coke and pepsi waters??
Even the bigger supermarkets don't have any - and haven't had for a number of weeks now.
Yes - Nestle did have a fire - bu why aren't the competition mpping up the market??
Very strange.

Fate

Thanks for water filter..but it doesnt prevent from bacteria , so filters s out of question...actually i searched n found out that in month of ramadhan seven or nine mineral water companies were shut on the grounds that they didnt meet the health n  their safety standards, including pepsi's aquafina.n they relaunched it again...because of which the burden of mineral water demand was to be met by few other remaining companies inclluding nestle n dasani n others... since even they operate at their hundred percent capacity, they coudlnt meet the demand resulting in water shortages, because of this the trade cycles have benefited n increased the prices of water cartons, n as a result many shopkeepers refuse to stock more boxes of water saying that they can not afford to buy water n stock by paying high prices...Also companies can not increase their capacities very quickly so they supply only limited number of boxes to retailers that actually buy the boxes n make it available to the consumer...i wish that this shortage is eliminated soooooonnnnn

Ramadan was 10 months ago.

The supply has been fine - then all the brands have disappeared from the market over the last 3 weeks.
Maybe small outlets wouldn't stock the cartons due to the price increase - but that is no reason why Carrefour / spinneys / metro et al have none of these brands on the shelf.

Hello

I work for Nestle and would like to let you know that Baraka is a Nestle brand as well. If you don't find Nestle Pure Life you can look for Baraka that is also available and very good.

Geely

@ Sax: Can you explain to us why there is a shortage of water in supermarkets? It is not even summer!
I was last week in Carrefour they had only some bottles of Hayat, and in Spinney's there was no water at all!

Sax

My only guess is that only so many companies are in the market. When one that has the biggest market share goes short (due to the factory fire), demand increases for other brands.

Hope that answers your question. smile.png

I don't even think it is that - the water is just not available in the shops.

The only one I have found over the last week is one called Aqua from Sadat city - drinkable - but very soft water.

don moe

all what is written above is true, but you may add (Safi) which is an army company for water , plus (Hayat) which is always available in Metro market.

Fate

i want to know where i can find dasani or  aquafina n nestle in rehab if possible...i dont buy any other brand...i never noticed if baraka s nestles brandm y dont v know about it? dpes nestle produce it by itself or it has ownership of the company making it?

Geely

Today at Hyperone (Sheikh Zayed) there were only 1.5 l bottles of Evian (very expensive) and some 16 l bottles of Vera....

don moe

BOth Nestle and baraka comes from the same Well, only that its two different brands from the same company as Nestle made merge to Baraka from some years.

Geely

There is still no water available at the bigger supermarkets. A week ago my son called Siwa and made arrangements to have 5 boxes delivered to our home (price is LE25 per box of 12x 1.5liter bottles, delivery is free, we tipped the delivery guys). It was delivered today, so I am happy!
Today I noticed also some water (Dasani, Hayat, Siwa) available at two small supermarkets in Zamalek, price was LE38-40!

biffy

Yo won't find the water in the larger stores such as spinneys or hyper, carrefour etc. - becuase when they normally buy the water - they buy it at a huge 25% discount due to the volumes and their buying power.
So the brands are satisfying their customers - hotels, etc. first - then what is left is being bought by the local shops - and even there they are not seeing the trucks at all.

(Due t being in the food industry I asked some questions)

Nestle has just restarted bottling small bottles - at low capacity.  They should be up and running to full capacity starting 1st June!!

amarka

they have a licence issue, stoped by the gouvernment I think, this is the version that gave me a local guy

so you can go for safi which is the military brand the only one still availbal,

for the other brand you need to be carefull as there is no cotrol

hope thinks will go better hmm.png

Please tell us where and for how much?

biffy

All water bottling companies that sell in the market are controlled and have the health certificates to bottle.

Again the reason you won't find the big brands in the big markets is that if they sell to the local small outlets they sell for basically full price (not the 25per cent discount that the big chains want).

I was in a more local part of Cairo esterday - and there was plenty of boxes of Dasani - both sizes - for sale - 35LE.

Easiest way is to get someone you know - EGyptian - who lives in a more 'public' area to buy you some.  They won't see you coming - and even though it may be slightly more expensive than the norm - it is there to be found.

Egypt's health ministry lists licensed bottled water brands amid shortage fears
http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/71417.aspx

they seem to do this every year around this time - the hot season is coming so they go and audit/ check all the water bottling companies and ban half of them.
During this last few months - new water brnads have appeared very quickly and considering how long it akes to get the kucence it is surprising!

don moe

Honestly, i can't bear the taste of the new brands which i tried such as Aqua Paris, Aqua Delta, Aqua Sky and Vera, looks like its home made or even irrigation water.
other new brands tastes normal.

but for me i prefer Nestle (will be back to market within month and half max) Schweppes (one of my best) and any other old brand for sure.

and i have the feelings that if any one want to make a new local water brand......... it's too easy.

biffy

No actually it's not too easy at all.
ou have to get the health certificates to produce.
But the taste depends on where the water comes from - whether or not it is softened and the treatment (eg. ozonation).
All waters taste different depending on the area.

The one I can't stand is Hayat!
