Buying home in Romania & get permanent residence

Did anybody buy a home in Romania and consequently obtained permanent residecy?If yes, how difficult was it and how long took it?P.S. I'm thinking of doing this - I'm Austrian citizen

Buying a home is pretty easy. I started to apply for permanent residency at the beginning of last year when my certificate of residency expired (after 5 years) but I missed the application date by a day so just renewed my certificate for another 5 years. Other than the fact that permanent residency lasts longer (10 years I think) I didn't see any other major advantages for an EU citizen.
