1000 usd as salary in Abu Dhabi

Hello, everybody!

Please, tell me if a 1000 USD is a good salary for Abu Dhabi, all expenses paid by the employer, excluding food.

Thank you! :)

Hi raduvictoria5,

Welcome to Expat.com!

I have created a new topic on the Abu Dhabi forum for better visibility.

All the best,
Christine

Hi, it depends on your spending dear, 1000usd is around 3670dirhams,so if u don't spend much, yh it might be ok if everything else like accommodation/transportation /etc is paid by your company, good luck

Not good enough, for an East European.

Thanks.

ouch thats not good enough

Thank you for your opinion.
Even if all the expenses are paid by the employer it is not enough?
How much shell be a good salary then?

All the best,
V.

Privet! eto ochen malo...vse uidet na edu)))

Hi Darky > could you please post in English in this English speaking forum? Thank you.

Dear Christine,

First of all, thank you for your warm welcome post and for the new created topic!
I shell translate what Darky wrote "It's less then enough, all the money shell be spent on food".
I am sure Darky is just missing his native language... :)

All the best,
V.

thanks :))

there are also several good sites that you can google that will show the exchange rate.  I have to say you can earn more as an US teacher and living anywhere on that would be difficult.

When you say all expense, does it including housing, conveyance, ticket, leave salary, medical coverage. Get it clarified. AED 3670 (USD1000) should be OK for a individual. again depending on the way you spend and your extra activities (movies, drink etc.,). Abu Dhabi Cost of living is higher than Dubai. all the very best to you

Hello,

Thank you for your post.
All expenses = shared accommodation, medical assurance, transportation, one way plane ticket (from home country to Abu Dhabi), visa.
Only the food is on my expense.

Well then you have a wonderful contract.  Enjoy, let us know when you plan to leave, hope to meet u in Abu Dhabi

Not good enough

Victoria, you don't say what job you will be doing? If it's a job with qualifications required then definately not enough, they're trying it on. I would say for a European with a High School leaving certificate a minimum of 1800USD for living expenses in Abu Dhabi. Life isn't about work, work, work, but socialising, joining a gym, week-ends exploring, enjoying life :)
Best of luck. Fee

Hi There,

Firs of all, the living cost in Abu Dhabi is very expensive. I moved back to Saudi Arabia for that reason. A room can cost you as much as 3000 AED per month which is almost 85% of 1K USD. But since you mentioned that all expenses are paid for by your sponsor, then I think you need not to worry about housing, unless you prefer to live out. In that case, your sponsor will have to provide you monthly housing allowance. At your salary range you can expect to receive 1500 AED per month for housing. Many expats share a room with other expats to save on the housing expenses. If you are married, then you can expect bigger housing allowance.

Transportation too is optional. Your sponsor will give you your allowance if you opt out of the company-provided transportation. Some companies give as low as 150 for transportation allowance. Average I think is around 400, depending on your position in the company.

Public transportation in Abu Dhabi is affordable. If you have one dirham coin, that is all you need for one bus ride. The "bigger" buses take you farther and charge 2 AED. If you take a cab, well, that is of course more expensive. Flag down rate is 5 AED.

Food is also cheap. But here in Saudi Arabia, it is relatively cheaper. What you need to do is buy yourself stocks during promos because that is a time when you can buy a lot more. Cook your own food.

Internet and mobile services too quite expensive. Shopping can be a little enticing especially during promo season.

With 3700 Dirhams a month (1K USD) excluding housing and transportation, you can expect a modest life in Abu Dhabi.

Just make sure you don't get caught jay walking. You can rack up as much as 200-300 per violation. :-)

Good luck!

$1000 is nowhere near enough. although, you havent told us what job its for and what your qualifications and experience are.

dont forget, its all relative.  it may seem attractive if everyone around you is earning the same amount but you will be in a place where others can earn as much as $10,000, 20,000 or even 30,0000 a month.  if you can handle knowing that, good.
