Register car in Romania imported from USA

How do I register a car in Romania that is imported from USA, currently in Romania on USA license plates?

I imported a 2002 Ford Escort Station Wagon several years ago from USA to Romania.

I attempted to register it in Romania but was a big hassle and expensive, so whenever I am going to Romania on vacation I insure it in USA to get plates, and also purchase insurance (1 month) in Romania, use for a week and return plates in USA.

Today I can't find an insurer in Romania to sell me insurance and am wondering if anyone can advise the current process to either a) register car in Romania or b) company that will sell me insurance in Romania.

hi,
if you want to register your car in Romania you have to ask to RAR if you have to pay special taxes for her.The law regarding registration for foreign cars is changed.If you want to insure the car in Romania you have to register here with romanian plates.I work in insurance bussines so if you need some help please send me the details for you car and details about you status here,you have residence in Romania or not?Please feel free to ask ,i will help.
