Hi
I want to learn the local chinese language before I relocate in April.
The chinese teaching centre is offering me cantonese chinese and mandarin chinese? Which one should I learn to be able to communicate with local people in Shenzhen.?

there's more people who speak cantonese here than mandarin, but mandarin is the official language of china, and it will help you more in a business aspect. it all depends, are you looking purely to communicate with the locals in south china? or are you looking for a language skill that will help you in business dealings with all of china?

Kindly be noted that SHENZHEN is an immigration city and most of the people are from all over the country, there are not so many `local` actually nowadays. The real local people speaks cantonese for sure, but I strongly recommend you to choose `Mandarin`.
