I have heard that you must go to the country to find a job. Does anyone have any ideas on where I should begin looking? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am a certified teacher in the states and would love to begin my job search for relocation in Costa Rica. Any websites or school names would be much appreciated.Thank you!

My understanding is that you must be a resident.

There are a lot of scams here, where someone says they put you in for a work permit, and you start teaching.  But the permit never comes through. And your hours drop to very little.  And the pay is not very much. So legally, you are in a very very grey area.
The only people I know of who have a real work permit are those who got the job from their home country, and their employer arranged for their move, and their permit to work in CR.
