A Motorcycle Question. {not the usual ones}

Hi,
Here cap in hand seeking some info from motorcyclists interested in more than your bog standard step through commuter.
I live out of Sgn. but need some work done to a motorcycle in Sgn and have no idea where to start.
I have a 2011 Rebel 125R twin, that's been begging me to bore it out, port/polish etc.
Anyone know of someone good at this {need a good spray painter as well} that they can put me on to?
Also the name and address of a dealer in Sgn that sells these bikes and spares, plus any links to dealer web sites that deal in them. I've Googled in both English and my limited Viet but can't seem to crack it.
Cheers.

I know a "paint shop" that really does custom work, not your bog standard repaints. I have another address for bog standard type.

When I bought my new Kymco, I had the engine stripped and all the ports polished, etc. They also took a small circular thing out of the automatic gear change and it is completely different - in a nice way.

There are several workshops specialising in 'souping up' engines.

I guess your Rebel is a Honda?

@Jaitch.
Yes it is.
Are you able to give some details for "soup em up" workshops? Ones that tend to care about the job they do.
Same for paint guy if he has access to good paints, has an actual spray gun and knows how to use it, not a can shaker.
I've had this bike for awhile now and h/way commute about 800klms a month on it. It goes well and looks great, but it's now time to make it go better and look greater.

All advise welcome from all.
Cheers.

Three challenges: communicating in Vietnamese; work would take more than a day; the work gets done in Cho Lon.

You couldn't come up with harder challanges than that?? I thought Canadians had a bit of imagination.
No probs, I have someone reliable for translation when I require a hand with my limited Viet.
Cho Lon? Can't see a challange in that if I know where I'm going, if I have a real address.
The bike can arrange to have plenty of time on it's hands and dosen't mind if things take more than a month, it's the job done that counts, not the time to do it.
The only real challenge I see is avoiding paying a round eye surcharge.
Cheers.
PS Ph. numbers??

Happy 2013 and Welcome to Vietnam.
(i could have sworn that Murphy was Vietnamese).

You can hide the round eyes with those huge blinkers from Ben Thanh market. Tet sales coming up.
Chúc mừng năm mới

Thanks for the welcome, belated though it is, been here quite a few years already.
Bit of Murphy in most of us I would say, part of the human condition. When ya get a bunch of em and they become a Smurphs, then you've a headache.
Cheers.

Ok two places I use depending on what I want done.

Hien on Cau Can Thanh, place is used to dealing with big bikes (larger engines not physcial) as well as custom work etc. I've had my chopper rebuilt and customised there and re-sprayed there. It's going in again soon for some more work I want done.

The other place is KTL Tecnic 138Ky Con-P Nguyen are one of the best performance tuners in town.

Both places have English speaking staff.  (Josh at KTL is VK) and Mr Hau at Hien speaks good english and knows his bikes :)

Both fo these you will pay a bit of round-eye tax, but given the work you want done it's not OTT.

@LBF.
Thanks very much for that.

Eh, Laidbackfreak.
Can you elaborate on this address, "Cau Can Thanh" I'm scratching my head a little bit.
Do you mean "Cầu Văn Thánh" in Q. Binh Thanh?
Cheers.

Regarding Hien repair shop, I took my SYM husky to the shop over a year ago for a rebuild and bore out. Over the last year I have spent over a thousand dollers and have not ridden my bike more than30 kms before having to return it, They put in a second hand piston that eventualy cracked my engin casing before replcing it, opened up the new exaust that they put on and made it so loud that I was stopped twice by the police and had to pay a 500 000 "spot fine" both times to stop the cops confiscating  my bike, they had to repaint my tank twice due to the staff chipping and scratching the paint, the seat had to be replaced after the cover was ripped, I paid for new handle bars and they put on second hand, I had the them completely rewire the bike and on a ride to the countryside the entire electrcal system burned out, I got a SYM dealership to do a quick fix and had to pay 800 000  for a new CDI and a million for the work, when I took it back to the shop they rewound the coil , which I had to pay for took out the new CDI and charged me for anouther one, when I asked for the CDI That I had bought  withless than 100kms on it I was told that I would get it when I pick up the bike, still waiting, I paid to have bearings replaced in the front  tire, and the front end then bounced, mr Hau said it was just the tire put on wrong, I got it a week later and it still bounced so back we went, I then was told I need a new rim, ok , new rim was put on and they" threw my tyre away" ( with less than two hundred kms on it ) so I had to pay for a new tyre ( 1.5 million). My bike has been in thier shop since november and when I went to collect it today (March 3rd) the owner of the shop had two expats waiting for me to "WARN" me that I should not return to the shop because I get angry and shouted at the staff.  There are still loose parts in the engine and I will have to find someone else to finish the job. I will need to replace the seat they repaired as the padding is so soft I'm sitting on metal. Over this time I had to pay for a rental bike ( 1 400 000vnd per month for twelve months [16 800 000vnd] So after almost two thousand dollars and a year of stress, broken agreements and very bad work I must admit my opinion of Hien repair shop rather less than satisfied. Hope this helps
