NO FIREWORKS Tonight? Can someone verify?

A Press Release, sent out by the HCM Peoples Committee, just crossed my screen and from my reading of it there will be NO firework display tonight.

There will be a celebration, of some sort, in the streets.

Seems that the commercial sponsors of New Years and Tet are cutting back this year, now that the global recession has now washed ashore.

If you've seen the light display on Nam Ky Khoi Ngia, it is a shadow of those seen on Dong Khoi in earlier years.

Anyone who reads a VNse language newspaper can perhaps confirm the fireworks.

Don't think it is right.
Read about 2 places (Saigon river and Dam Sen park) a few days ago. VTV confirms it just few hours ago.

Timing: 0:00 to 00:15

Also fireworks 0:00 to 0:15 on 10/2/2013

Here is what I wrote about it last year.

Expect the same thing this year. You have been warned!

Most likely a screwed up Release, the English wasn't too clear.

The crowds will be out anyway/ It happened like this a few years ago, no one knew for sure. Until something went bang.

I see fireworks from TP HCM in my office web can that covers downtown.

Seemed a little shorter than usual. At least those people who came to see them had their expectations met.

Hopefully Tet will be a blow out.
