Solo female traveller to Sydney - easy to meet ppl / find work?

Going to be travelling to Sydney in March from Europe (never been to Australia), hoping to be able to stay up to 6mths and just wondering if it is easy to meet ppl in Sydney or get involved (many solo backpackers or mostly groups?) and if anyone has found it hard to get any kind of paid work? Any comments would be appreciated! Cheers smile

In my trip i met lots of solo travellers, guys and girls...meeting people is very very easy and finding jobs also, especially backpackers stuff are quite easy to find in hostels there are lots of pinboards with every kind of offers.
