we are moving to dr in the new year.
hoping to get solid info on the pitfalls and laws from people on the ground.
have lived 7 years in spain and belive it must be the centre of missinformation in europe:D which was costly,so trying to pass on learning curves.
seems most ex pats are up on the north coast,and i end up in the jungle there's a joke in there somewhere.

Where in the DR are you moving to?
We have been on the norht coast (Cabarete) for 4 years now.

Hi Bob
We were just about to write to you when we received this! we are moving to the North East coast, Samana Bay,landward side a town called Miches. We have been following you and reading your tips and advice for the last couple of weeks on here and this prompted us to join the site yesterday and to contact you today.
Do you know Neil Jackson, a scuba instructor or his friend Andrew Balham? They are both in your area and we have been fortunate to be put in touch with them through Andrew's brother, John, who regularly dives with us in Spain.
We will be coming over in mid-January to sign the contract etc for our "base" in Miches.
We have recently taught a golf pro to dive and he is keen to bring the Senior and Ladies Pro Golf tour, which he has been organising and hosting in Spain for the last few years, to DR as well as possibly a celebrity Golf Challenge. We will be heavily involved in the logistics of this with him as well as starting our Dive Centre so are definitely jumping in feet first!
