Backpacking to Danang

Hi guys,

I'm planning to visit Danang, Hoian & Hue from 23rd to 27th Sep, we're confused with how to allocate time for each place and which means of transportation should be used for moving here and there. There are so many places to visit and street foods to eat, we actually dont want to miss any of them @_@. Could anyone who ever backpacked to those places give me some valuable advice?

Thank you very much in advance!
Linh

As I am lazy, I would use a sleeping bus. Most destinations you can reach over night by bus.
As for sight seeing, I am not sure, to lazy. But most tourists stay 2 days in each city , so I think, 3 days will be safe (and giving you a break from living in a bus)

Grab a Mai Linh Express or Hoang Long Open Ticket ride that allows you to get off and on along the way.

Keep away from all the others - OpenTour buses are killers, unreliable and your baggage can get stolen - even whilst you travel along the road.

Need more persuasion - just check the condition of their tires.

BUT your 4 day trip is not long enough for your proposed journey, unless you are simply doing a been there-done that trip.

Da Nang is a write off except for the Cham Museum.

Hoi An is a tourist stop with an Ancient Town that is just entering it's monsoon season - an experience, but not enjoyable unless you have the gear.

Hue is the gem. You will need at least two days there to cover all the monuments. Like Hoi An it suffers from the summer monsoons.

The summer monsoons are no joke. They turn streets into rivers. I have had to wade through water about four feet deep whilst crossing a bridge! In Hue there is the Dap Da causeway between the city core and Dap Da - a suburb. There is a casino hotel parking lot next to it and the hotel has guards huts about 6 feet tall. I have seen those guards huts under water!

It will take you about 24 hours bus or train travel between TP HCM and the area.

Your best option is to fly to Hue and then bus to Hoi An. Hoi An is about 30 miles south of Da Nang, which has an airport and direct flights to TP HCM.

The buses between Hue and Hoi An are a four hour run and they depart, from either end and direction at 08.00H and 12.00H approximately.

Ooops, i had book two way ticket HN-Danang. Perhaps i will spare Hue for next time. This time will be Danang & Hoian only.
I was bewared of monsoon in Hoian but didnt know it would cause flood so bad. Gosh, hope everything be fine since i dont know swimming.

Not bad, do i need to bring diving bell & diving duck with me just in case? With those rubber duck and diving tools, i must look the most attractive amongst many floating things in the flood =))

By the way, your Mr. Bean Pic made my eyes blurred for a while, what a great talent he is!

I was lucky to get ticket from Vietjetair with cheap price. The flight will arrived at Danang at 15:25 and take off DN at 16:00.
I will take your advice into consideration n prepare best health & a biggest stomach for those days.

Cheers!

Dear Linh,

I hope your trip went well.  I must tell you that you made me fall off my chair two times laughing.  Are you funny or what?  I really like the way you express yourself.  Well I gotta go now and find a band aid for my arm.:rolleyes:

Hi Somoby,

I'm sorry for the joke which made u fall off the chair, next time i will hang the notice WATCH OUT BEFORE U READ in front of any post of mine so that everyone will be careful.

It was fantastic, we had time going to Cham island for diving n seeing blue corals (actually i floated more than dive),enjoying the sunshiny beach, visiting Nguyen's tombs to learn abt VN history, going to BaNa hill to taste 4 seasons within 1 hour or discovering caves inside the mountain with weird statues. Though time was time, i came home with serious eye allergy & missed visiting some places, the trip was an exciting experience to share.
