I am moving to Suzhou at the end of August with my wife and two children aged 12 and 14 who will attend school in the SIP. We will be looking for an apartment to rent and I am not sure which area of Suzhou to look at. I will working in the old town so we could live in that part with my children getting buses/metro to school ( is that possible?) or we could live in SIP but we would also like to be near chinese grocery stores/supermarkets i.e. not entirely in a western ex-pat area. Or there may be other areas north/south of the lake so between the old town and the SIP -does anyone have any advice?

Planning to use a car?
I just moved from the east of Jinji Lake to the west side. Still SIP but near to Downtown...can reach with my bike in 10min.
The name of compound is: "The Royal Lakefront" locaded next to Lingongdi. Spermarket and shops (western&chinese) around the corner!
Metro is 10min. with bike.
