My son is British, can I live in Britain too?

Hello everyone,

I lived in England twenty years ago and married a Scotsman. We are no longer together but our son, who is British by descent, has his British passport and is moving to the U.K. after finishing school. As his mother, can I reside in Britain too, and if so, what sort of application process do I need to follow?

Cheers all,

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

Unfortunately there is no special visa for you.

You will have to try and get a work visa or skilled worker visa.

I think you can.  But, I do not know the laws very well there.

But, I have friends who have brought their wives there, and then they brought their wives children and parents there.

So, I think it is doable.
