Moving to Phuket, Any advice, observations, any other information?

I currently live in the Los Angeles area and am in the process of moving to the Phuket area.  I would like to live a less expensive, simpler lifestyle.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you ever visited Phuket?

What type of help do you need?

Try phuket town if u want to live like a thai budget.
rental 10,000thb per mth
water & electric 2500thb
Thai food - 35-40thb per meal

Try rawai/chalong for more familiar setting.
Lots of expat living in that area.

I'm living in karon area....if u plan to move into phuket long term more than 20 yrs i advise u to buy leasehold condo.... considered cheap rent.

If only short-term 1-2 yrs b4 hopping to other parts of thailand or exploring other countries just rent.

I don know wads your budget for living expenses monthly.

Thai life style - about 8,000thb mthly
Thai ppl they share room rental/ split water & electricity costs
ciggie they wrap their own -5thb
Food 50% dinning out/ 50% hm cooked meal

My living style(chinese/thai mixed) - about 9000thb mthly
studio at karon (bought)
honda city (bought)
internet - 9000thb 1yr
hp fees topup - 100thb seldom use.
water & electric 2000thb
ciggie - 1500thb
thai/chinese food/fruits - 3500thb
car petrol - 1500thb

Activities - swimming, gym, beach, snorkerling, watch TV , surf net, eat.

western style - easily 30,000-60,000thb monthly
If you go clubbing, drinking, eat western food.......can add up pretty fast.

Gd luck.
