Bringing my family

Hi, I am new to this forum as I got offered a job to work for HMC. I need information from your experience wonderful Expats

1. How long does it take for the work visa to be issued (I am British National)?
2. Can I take my family with me now or I should get my Resident permit first then they follow?
3. What exactly they do in the medical check?

your help is really appreciated.

Reed.

Hi, I'm at HMC now, been here 4 months.
You can't bring your family here until you have passed your medical checks and given marriage certificates etc.
Then you will be issued a Qatar ID card.

Your medical consists of a chest x ray, blood test and blood pressure.

Usually you cannot start work until all results are in.
Depends what department you will work for and what grade etc.

Don't be confused, rules can differ for everyone depending on various details.
Best thing to do is get here, ask questions and push for answers.
Any info you need just ask.

Cheers,
Andy.

You will also need the approval from the ministry of labor

Guys any one used shipping companies from UK-London to Qatar-Doha!! any reliable and affordable one?

Cheers

Reed

Hi There,
I have been offerde a job with HMC as well. Its my understanding that if you insist you want to bring your family, arrangments cab be made.
My situation is a bit more sticky as I am a woman and there is no chance that I will move without my children. Reed- what ages are your children? Just think it would be good find a bit of support with schools and stuff. If you are recruited by HMC its highly likely we will be living around the same area.
I have lived in Qatar as a child- donkeys years ago now. I am originally INdian- but Have an irish passport now.
Cheers

Hi Banu,
Thanks for the comments, children are 3 years and the other one few months, after asking few people overthere it seems easier if you I go overthere first then they follow me at least once I have my permenant accommodation. I am still awaiting my visa, have you have yours yet or still waiting.

Cheers

My kids are 6 and 2 1/2. So will be looking into schools and preschools as well.
My process is only at the beginning stages and i understand that it take a few months. How long did it take for you start to finish?
