Welcome to addis there are a few shopping malls around bole road,dembel center Getu commercial and Jambo on bole medehanealem rd but the biggest shopping(open market) is in merkato but i would advise you go with someone local to get the best deal and to get about easily in regarding transport it depends how cheap you want it but the best thing to do is hire a car and a driver or use the mini bus taxis which are the cheapest way of transport

you can find many shopping center around bole (dembel, getu commercial building, edna mall, freindship, etc), around piazza and merkato. like olympus said, if you wanna go to merkato, i suggest you to go there by local people.
for private transportation, they will charge foreigner very expensive. unless you've subscribed a taxi driver, then he will give you lil bit discount. another, like or not take the mini bus taxi
