I'm thinking about moving to Cairo next summer, and I would need to find a job there. If you are living in Cairo, how is the job market as far as teaching English or freelance writing? Also, are there affordable Arabic classes in Cairo? I would love to hear about your experience, anything you have to say about living as an American in Cairo.

If you are American you will find very quickly a teaching position in an American school or college and they will pay you very well! for Egypt, I mean!
Apply in meantime, most good schools start completing their staff in spring, with selections and interviews,send them your cv.
About Arabic classes, I recommend all of you IBI- ICI http://www.ibi.com.eg/ with branches in Maadi, Haram and Heliopolis!
