Acupuncture Clinics in HCMC?

Anybody knows where to find a reputable CLEAN place for acupuncture in HCMC?

As a real clinic, I have not seen or heard about yet. I am also not in Saigon.

!!!!!!!!
Acupuncture is commonly done by practitioners of Chinese/alternative medicine.
They are commonly neither doctors!!!!!!!

In Saigon, you might find them when asking a local Vietnamese friend. Via the same way, I found a few local such Chinese "doctors".

Reasonable clean, they where all, "recommended" was barely every 2nd. Either, the remaining did not pay commission or the expected results where missing (assumption).
The one, I now use a few years speaks a surprisingly good English, but is also a bit to confident in his diagnoses and the results, possible to young but running a good praxis.

Common experience - they will over-charge by about 100% and charge for "NEW" needles, whilst using older ones.

As a tip:
- a session of 20/30 minutes should be not much more than 120 000 VND, with new needles (used ones, about 40 000 VND less). If the difference is bigger, you can be sure, being ripped off

- if you not like the "praxis" room or "doctor", choose another one, there are plenty of them.

- make sure, you see them unpacking the needles, when you pay/choose "NEW" and you know already very exact, what problem you have and the relief you can expect.

- all of them (here in NT) do not open before 3 pm and close about 8 pm.

I go about ones a fourth night since over 4 years for some back ache issues. For other issues I had, there where no positive results despite their promises. Chinese "doctors" tried so far = 5; 3 of them only ones, one of them twice and the 5th now almost 4 years.

You may just try a Korean clinic named JaYoung Oriental Medical Clinic in Phu My Hung. R2-16, Muoi Tay, Nam Quang 1, Phu My Hung. 08 5412 3606.

Cheers,

My experience :  in 2013 i have been near the Sacre coeur church quartier TAN DINH .there is there a little catholic hospital to make an  acupuncture traetment with success by an vietnamese doctor. It's not expensive. but they dn't speak english .

Where in Saigon do you want to find a place, that might help. I know of an alternative hospital in Phu Nhuan, but you could be in D7 and its too far.

hi could you post the adress of the clinic in phu nhuan .... thanks

For your information:

1. Institute of Traditional Medicine (Vien Y Duoc hoc Dan toc):
273-275 Nguyen Van Troi, ward 10, dist. Phu Nhuan.
I used to do acupuncture here.

2. Traditional Medicine Hospital (Benh vien Y hoc Co truyen):
179 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, ward 7, dist 3.

and what about the prices( rates)

I don't know how about others but I paid around 6$ (health check, needles, forearm acupuncture). I did last month.

And I presume the doctors understood English well enough for you to explain your situation to them.

Could you tell me which doctor you've been using for the past few years along with contact info? I'm in HCMC for a few days and would like to catch up on my sessions.

There is a french run international medical centre that offers acupuncture called CMI, the professionals name is Valerie she is amazing, CMI is in district 1 right next to the Notre dame cathedral.

Great. How much do they charge.

FV acupuncture is 1.5 M for 5 sessions including needles and consultation but only on Mondays.

Another practitioner from the clinic comes to my house three times a week and it's 200k each time.

Everyone has been trained in China.  I'm happy with them even though my results are slow.

I have been in Tam Duc Traditional Medical Clinic in Tan Binh District. It's nice, professional and friendly.

In the meantime here is a testimonial for you from me:

Doctor Monika who is working there is really good in acupuncture. She has the natural midas touch when it comes to acupuncture. She takes a very thorough and holistic approach to ensure her treatments are effective. I most certainly would recommend Monika she will take good care of you,  she's got excellent English, Chinese,  and she's a magician with what she does in acupuncture.

It would be better to emphasize "reputable", no?, given the explanation acupuncturists give of what they are doing is nonsensical - unless you don't believe in elementary science any more.

Have you actually read what acupuncturists "claim" they are physically doing? It's gibberish.

Do you know that the only effect that comes up in scientifically conducted tests - not the typical "but I did it and my knee felt better" anecdotes - is a placebo effect?

And that a scientifically conducted test where someone randomly poked people with a toothpick, not pretending to locate "energy meridians" and whatever else the pre-scientific age originators made up, a toothpick did as well as the acupuncturists "trained" in finding meridian energy blah blah as rated by the patients who didn't know what they were getting.

Might be relaxing or give a short term buzz just from being "helped", but it can be dangerous and medically acupuncture is no more effective than the water homeopaths resell as actual medicine. So do see a real doctor if a real issue. Or hope the placebo effect kicks in and not some real problem :)

Don't fear some actual science sciencebasedmedicine.org/reference/acupuncture/

I have a slipped disk, and reoccurring sciatica. I have had efficiant resultes with  Acupuncture in the UK.  can anyone recommend a good acupuncture practitioner, preferably an X-pat?

I have tried Two Local places, and a Korean Place, but left without treatment, as I was not comfortable with either the facility, or the communication.

I am a real “believer” in acupuncture, but very disappointed with what i have found here so fare-- in comparison to the UK.  I would be grateful for any recommendations.

Thank you!

Hi,

I have visited some Acupunctures but it is better to have a sauna and massage in Beauty salon. You can check Beauty of SIam which locates in district 1. Better to buy 12 coupons which you can save 50% so you only have to pay 200 000d/time

Regards,

Hi David,

I am sorry you have had no luck in finding a clinic that suits you and has not been able to help you with your slipped disc and sciatica. My name is Dr. Christopher Booth, I am an Acupuncturist at Saigon Acupuncture, here in Ho Chi Minh City working at a very clean and professional clinic. I am an expat from New York, and am treating and or have treated many patients with slipped discs and sciatica successfully. I believe in having a clear line of communication and education for my patients when it comes to Traditional East Asian medicine, so that you have an understanding of why and how the medicine works and what to expect. If you would like to speak more about your concerns, please send me an e-mail with your details to: [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Chris

Who was talking about massage.

Maybe he replied my comment when I prefer massing than acupuncture. I have visited some Clinics in district 5 but couldn't satisfy with their work.

Hi, i am using this one. Here is the link to their FB page

facebook.com/pages/Wellness-Center/295996047268717?ref=bookmarks

I was in pain on my left shoulder for more than 3 months before I arrived in Vietnam, upon recommendation from VietExpat's blog, I found Mrs. Monika is a truly amazing acupuncture practitioner, which she diagnosed correctly that after more than 2 decades working in IT and old age, I developed a blockage on my spine that generates pain on my left arms and tingling sensation numb on my left hand. After the first session, the pain level gone at least 50%, subsequent treatments reduced it even more as time goes. I am highly recommended her  service to anyone who endures the same problem as I am.

And what about the price?

It's depended on what kind of treatment that you needed, mine was a simple acupuncture treatment, which cost me $200,000 VND for each session. You can call Dr Monika directly, who can speak English & Mandarin (of course, Vietnamese)fluently : phone#****

Best of luck.

Hello TVBZ28

You may recommend her in our business directory : Health in Ho Chi Minh City

Kenjee

Hi Kenjee

There is no category call "Acupuncture"  for me to enter the recommendation. Please show me how to get
around it. THX

There is an excellent acupuncturist I've used several times in D7 at a clinic called Maple Healthcare. Its western owned/operated and very clean. I go there occasionally for problems with my back and the pricing is quite reasonable. They hired a German acupuncturist that speaks excellent English and is knowledgable about the practice.  Heres a link to their site maplehealthcare.net

Good Luck!

Hi I have a big problem in my lumbar spine. Can you send your phone number and address Thank you

There is a clinic in D7 opposite Nyugen Kim shop. My wife and i have used it many times, very good , very cheap 50000 dong for 40 minute session.
