Getting married in Eritrea

Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in Eritrea or who are about to get married in Eritrea to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in Eritrea? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of Eritrea)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Anyone can marry an Eritrean.It is not a difficult thing.There are two types of marriage.One is official and another is illegal.If it is illegal there is no documental support.If it is official there will will be documents.To make it official we have to get it done either in the church or in the mosque.After that we to get it certified from the government offices.If our marriage is official one,then we can take our partner to our country.Otherwise not
