Getting a driver's license in HCMC

Hi all,
i am living in HCMC for more than 1 year now. i learnt to drive motorbikes after coming to HCMC. i never had any driver's license before. i am driving a motorbike in the streets of HCMC without a license for the last 6 months :). i think i have had enough of practice  and i want to apply for a driver's license. somebody told me that i need to know vietnamese to get a new license. it is true? what is the procedure? is there any weblink for this? how much should the whole process cost? how long does it take to get the license in my hand?
can i make an international driving license from HCMC so that when i visit another country i can use it? is there any 'international driving license' at all?
thanks...

hi vicci,
yes, you need to learn vietnamese before you do the theory test because all questions are in vietnamese, there is no translation.
the total fee is very cheap: about 10-15$ (including learning & test fee)
it will take 7-15 days to get your licence after you finish your driving test.
you can register in every district. for example:
700 Lê Hồng Phong, District 10, HCMC
or a test center in Phổ Quang street, Tân Bình District (near Hyundai Showroom)

hope these info can help you a little

thanks southsun,
it was really helpful.
i just want to know whether i can take a translator with me in the theory test...
if i need to learn vietnamese to get a driver's license... then... :)

of course not, candidate can not communicate with any one in the test room, no excuse.
btw, you can try to ask in government office in order to exchange from the licence in your country to a temporary licence, i think it may be possible. since i had translated my vietnam car driving licence to use in Australia when i studied there.
