Does anyone know if you are moving to Costa Rica do you have to take Anti Malaria medicine the entire time you live in the country?  Also about thypoid, Hep A, and Hep B vaccines are they all needed?

Another side topic, how big are the bugs?  I have heard horror stories!!!1

Hi Lori -
We haven't taken malaria meds since our first visit. We've been spending about half our time in Costa Rica for over 3 years.
You do want to be careful of mosquitoes, but more because of dengue fever.  And mosquitoes are less of a problem in the dry season (Nov/Dec - April), and in the central valley.
We got vaccinations - Hep A & B, and updated for tetanus. Nada mas.
If you travel to Panama, you may need a yellow fever vaccine to get back into CR (the law changes seemingly daily on this topic).
