First Ecuador Trip

Hi All,

My wife and I will be making our first exploratory trip to Ecuador, arriving 11 April 2012. We hope to spend about 5 days in each location of Quito, Cuenca, and Salinas. It seems we already have a preference towards Cuenca/Salinas. We do not have a rigid schedule. We have decided to make reservations at the Hostal (Otavalo Huasi Hostal) recommended on this site for first night. We would like to met expats in Qutio to find out if there are better options; where expats hang out, and what is going on during this week.

We found more info on this site about the expat community in Cuence and the hotel "Villa Nova Inn' and we are especially looking any info and recommendations for Salinas.

Also, are there any military bases or installations anywhere in Ecuador?

Hello,

This is Vinny. If you planning to stop in Cuenca we can meet and talk about the city.

There's no US military bases in Ecuador, It was one in Manta few years ago but now is closed.

Not set yet, but looking to arrive Cuenca around the 17th or 18th of April. We will know more when we get to Quito. Saw your many post and knowledge of Ecuador on this site. Looking forward to meeting you. How would you like us to get in touch. I do have other questions before we arrive there.
