Doing business in the Maldives

Hi,

are foreign investors welcome in the Maldives ?

Is it complicated to register a company in the Maldives ? What is the procedure?

What is the corporate tax rate in the Maldives ?

Is it easy to recruit?

Any advice you would share with us?

Thank you very much for your participation,

Julien

Hi Julien,

foreign investors are more than welcome in maldives.

its very simple to register a company in Maldives, could do it in 10days maximum.

you will need:
1)memorandum of articles
2)articles of association
3)board resolution, stating the appoinmtement if Managing director, company secretary and authorized signatories.
4)MD acceptance letter
5)secretary acceptance letter
6)company Logo design on a CD, JPG format.
7)company seal
8)company seal/trade mark registration form
9) revenue stamp of 500rf, about 32USD at current rate of 1US$=15.42MVR

maldives is income tax free, however there will be a bissiness profit tax implemented very soon.. in the next 1 - 10 years...(controversial issue at the parliament, as most of them are business mens)

its is very easy to recruit, but depends of wage and experience

advise: if your looking for a local partner...you know my email right? :)

cheers

hi,

forgot to give you the most important piece of information..

you can download all the documents at www.trade.gov.mv and both 1 & 2 from above is very simple, you will get a standard format where you have to fill in the blanks..

cheers

Hi Yalin,

maldives has a very high demand for specialist clinics, and private clinics with experienced doctors are doing very well.

it's always good to know the numbers, maldives might have the highest thalassemia but we are a population of 320000.

a clinic and a laboratory would work well while a specialist laboratory might not be feasible to run on male with high rents.

we have a few types of insurance schemes in malidves, one is our universal health scheme which where all maldivians are covered with health insurance...

next we have privately bought schemes...  all of them have different coverage. its always the dental, optical and cosmetic surgeries that are not covered in these schemes the rest are covered.

90% of the time when people fall sick, they travel to male which is our capital island. its not that easy however we do not have much of an option.

getting a blood sample to male, its not difficult, you can have any things sent from anywhere in maldives to male in 24 hours.

male might be expensive but this is the only place where you will get enough business...

most of the patients can understand English, however all clinics have a interpreter...

all current medical reports are printed in english, totally acceptable.....

hope this helped.. i have not had any x-ray taken recently hence i hope someone else would comment on that bit...

foreign investments are allowed but i think you need a maldivian to be partner, cannot have a fully owned foreign company in maldives?
OPTION 1
Registering a joint venture investments whose
ownership of 51% or more is held by a Maldivian
or wholly owned Maldivian entities incorporated
in the Maldives
OPTION 2
Registering investments whose ownership of 51%
or whole held by foreigners or entities
incorporated outside of the Maldives.

Thank you for your input Jay0.0! :)

Mooch always have the answers!!!! :)

HI everyone'

As of the moment, I'm helping friend to register a construction firm here in the Maldives. He is a Filipino contractor in the Philippines. Perhaps i can share the process once we get trough with it. His local partner is the one securing all the necessary documents and registration processes wherein they are bonded by a memorandum of agreement.

Be happy =)
