Yes, it is possible. I do know it can be done for sure. I would not count on time being constant in anything dealing with beauracracy. However, I am married to a Lao, have a house, and a source of employment. I do not know of a single Indian living in Lao personally so it may not be as easy. Do you speak Lao or Thai? The Department of Foreign Affairs can be a pain and picky. I know people that have been trying to get residentcy for over two years. You will or should have connections somewhere for this. With connections comes the need for administration fees. Being a foriegner does not help you lower expenses. Vientiane is in many ways like living in Bangkok. There are many hassels and the learning curve is sharp and long for some. I suggest you spend some time there and get to know the layout of the land first. If there are Indians there find them and see what they have to say. Hope this helps some. For us non Lao and even for them, adjusting to the system is at best and adventure in patience, research, trial and error and a lot of alchohol both as gifts and consumption.

i dont speak lao or thai ,
thanks for your reply ,

looking for more response from others too

I am also married to a Lao woman and have family there. I am based in Laos, coming and going to Vientiane on my leave breaks from whatever country I am working in.

What T-Lao has said is true. It takes a lot of time, patience and money to get the residency visa. It took 12 months for me to get permission to marry my wife, a long drawn out process.

In Laos there is no hard and fast process within Govt for getting things done. Time is irrelevent to them and what may suit one official does not necessarily suit the next one so this makes the process rather slow.

I have been coming and going from Laos for many years and it is not what you know but who you know and how much money you have to facilitate the process. Even this is no assurance of getting what you want either.

It seems the Indian Govt is investing money here in Laos and I have seen Indian people here in Vientiane. Maybe you check out exactly what the Indian Govt is involved in and see whether this may be a way for you to get into the country.
