Couldn't find any food topic, favorite restaurants, or just side-street food stalls? Let's talk about your best meal ever, the best dish you've ever tasted??

Ok, let me start, I'm a big fan of seafood, including Ngheu-So-Oc-Hen, well all sorts of shellfish and I'm telling you the best place to eat this kind of food is in Go Vap District, on Quang Trung street before Quang Trung-Thong Nhat intersection from Van Lang book store heading toward District 12, on the side-street in front of an Army Bank, a big branch, I think.  The shop starts to open daily from 4pm till 2am the next morning.  It's always attract a big crowd because of the freshness, affordable and the way it was deliciously cook, and you can also stay for more cheap Heineken or Tiger if you prefer late at nite, when it's much cooler, the traffic dies out and there'd be less dust...Ummmm.  Long way from district 1, where I live but I do have to come and visit my mother once a week AT LEAST so I allow myself to go hard on the menu...
Get a local to take you there n try it for yourself or maybe just put this in your Dare-to-do list?
Happy life!

Phi Long

Thanks. I like eating Oc but only clams and seafood. Not a fan of snails. So I found some decent places to eat, but always interested to find better ones. Will dare to go next time I drive through Go Vap.

Best dishes I've had were from my mother's cooking. She did excellent Hue style dishes. I've had the luxury to eat banh nam, banh beo, bun bo hue in a lot of places - San Jose/Orange County, CA., Houston, TX., Jacksonville/Orlando Florida, Hue, Vietnam, and Saigon/HCMC, Vietnam.

1) Kim Long - Really good Hue dishes in Saigon and I can honestly say I liked eating here than any local restaurants in Hue. Ate banh nam, banh beo, banh khoai, and Oc nhoi. Address: 80/68 Tran Quang Dieu, Ward 14, District 3. DT: 3843 6498. It's in a small alley so will be difficult to locate. Decor inside is pleasant once you get in. Had a nice atmosphere when I went to dinner with my father, his gf, and my gf.

2) Bun Bo Hue 3A3 is a good choice located in both District 1 and Phu My Hung. It gets really busy during lunch time though. Good clean place but more pricier since its in a high end location.

All noted!  Thank you Phi Long, I've created a list of places to eat around HCMC and visiting those 2 places would be my first-thing-to-do!  I love food and have been back so many times from Oz so I have quite a few favorite places to come to each time but as I know the way so well that I've never note the addresses so it's kind of hard to tell someone about them but from now on, I'll just do that.
Another thing for u, Phi Long, let me tell u about the Bestest place for clams n seafood lovers is Seafood Buffet on the 5th floor of the Majestic, the end of Dong Khoi street.  Paying $36 per pax that's all u can eat INCLUDING ALCHOHOL! Freshes oysters, big big scampies, lopsters, clams, then steak, duck, chicken, pork, then cakes...the list is still on and all TOP quality! Maybe they'd charge more for NYE dinner but it worth it to check it out. Hope u enjoy Tet. Nam moi phat tai!
