what is needed to open a bank account?
i have been searching on the internet for a web site selling property in Miraflores but most of what i find is rental not sales. and the ones i do find for sales are not helpful in the least.
please assist me if possible. i want to bring my two dogs along so finding a pet friendly place with a garden of some sort is essential. i will rent and travel a bit in the beginning.
will like to meet up with South Africans for coffee or whatever. will appreciate a little help in settling in
i also need a reliable (not a crook) lawyer to act as paymaster for transfers and legal matters etc.

I'm not a lawyer or a specialist, but we live couple of years in Peru and I can give just some personal advise. To open the bank account in Peru you'll need Carneta Estranjeria which is residency card. There might be different rules if you need to transfer big amount of money, I don't know that. To look for properties try urbania.pe. There are reputable companies that take care of property sale like Remax.
I hope it helps and if you need a place to land in Lima, we rent rooms in our big house with garden. Our Ad appears in Expat.com and is called Rooms available in Surco.

As for buying apartments or houses have to be in the same peru to see your interests, the prices are on the websites are ridiculously high.
You can get a house in a middle-class, for 50,000
In an exclusive, probably 100.000
200,000 inclusive is already high for a site so
The mansions if they can pass those prices.
The houses in Peru are all concrete, that's good, you'll have more meters and cubic meters of solid concrete house.
