Is it possible to obtain a passport for libya?

I was born in Tripoli, Libya and was wondering if Libya allows people to obtain a passport based on being born there? I have all my original documents from the american embassy in tripoli, and from the department of state and documents written in Arabic. On my documents it lists my father as american and mother as italian.

Libyan citizenship is not given automatically at birth as in US and some other countries.

Your parents have to be Libyan for you to get the passport.

I hope the new govt. changes the rule. Even i am born in Ajdabia but my parents from Pakistan. So i hope that new govt. gives nationality to those people who were born here in Libya...
