About to buy SIM card for mobile, just trying to find out who has better deal re coverage, price Claro or Orange ...Talking to people seems there are different opinions who is better?
also I believe one has to show passport when buying SIM?

Yes you need you passport or local Cedula.
As to which is better it depends on the day of the week and your location as service will vary with both depending on where you are.
Pricing is also very similar.
We actually have both basically to ensure we have coverage no matter where we are in the country

But surprisingly did not ask me for any ID at all, passport or otherwise

yeah Claro seems ok, but one thing cant seem to find is the number to check how much credit one has left...any idea?

You can set your phone to tell you how much the last call was and how much money is left in your account in the set up. At least on my phone I have that. Its really nice.
