Hi everyone!
I'm going to be moving to Riyadh in the next few weeks (just waiting for the paper work to clear) and as it's my first stint in the ME I was hoping you could advise me on any essentials I need to pack?! I understand that I'll be able to buy most things over there but is there anything you fellow expats can't live without?! (within reason!!)
Also I'm a big tea drinker (surprise surprise!) How expensive is English tea in the supermarkets over there? I usually take a big stash with me but if it's not much more expensive I can use the precious luggage space for my abayas instead :P
Thanks!
:)

I am a tea addict which is why I refer to my supplies as a stash but to my knowledge tea isn't illegal so there's no need to jump to conclusions there! :)

Well from your profile, I gather you have been around a lot.. so you know the essentials of what all you will need. just avoid the things that will throw up any flags in customs and you should be fine. On clothing I am sure that you have an idea on what to take and what is not needed. Very heavy winter clothing/ or the rain boots from wet ol' London not needed at all.

English teas, well I havent found them to be that expensive. bring a small stash just in case.

I think the tea here is not expensive that much believe me, but bring in case you might find it expensive here for you.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will bring some English tea just to be safe :)

Hi,

Although Tea ia available in abundance, we also bring out tea bags with us on each trip from UK. (there is a taste difference!)

Also if you have preference to a certain make of medicines, please bring them with you. (medicines are available however the manufacturers are different and some people do have a liking to a certain brand)

When planning your trip to Riyadh please do be aware that there will be holidays for Hajj/Eid at the start of November for 5 to 11 days (equivalent to xmas, boxing day bank holiday in the UK). It will be best to travel after these holidays.

Good Luck!
