Hi

I'm currently living in Dubai and may be moving to MRU in the next few months. I have heard that cars are very expensive over there in comparison to Dubai. I was just wondering does anyone know if its possible to bring over your own car from the country you are currently residing in and if so what are the costs involved?

Thanks

taxes include: either they put up 50% tax on vehicles(+road charges)
or they assume vehicle is worth X amount, and they tax 50 % over it.

if you're a mauritian living abroad, you have no taxes options

cheers mate, have fun in mauritius

Thanks...
Okay lets say I buy a 2011 toyota prado here in dubai that costs me 155000aed (1.2million MRU). Would the 50% tax be on the actual price I paid for it (155,000AED) or would it be on their evaluation of it?

They decide- actually preferences are the second option i think...

heavy engines are classified as luxury vehicles-u must check, maybe taxes are more than 50%. Like the SUV's and types. I know 50% taxes apply for 1000-2000 cc engines- overall- i'm not sure of :)

but you can check, pv i'll do

cheers
I.
