Child care in the Canary Islands

Hi,

when settling in a new country, working parents are mostly concerned about finding child care services for their children.

What can you share with us about the child care system in the Canary Islands ?

How much is daycare in the Canary Islands?

Is the staff qualified at these daycare centers?

What are the usual opening hours?

Do they provide other services at the daycare center?

Any daycare center in the Canary Islands you would like to recommend to other expats? What makes them special?

Thank you for participating! :)

The childcare - educational system is going to change here, as the government cutting off the budget... Up to 40 kids in the class!

The nurseries (1-3y.o.)hours mostly 7 to 16. In some places is difficult to get place, there is not enough of them. But always there are private ones, few hundreds monthly.

Kindergardens (4-6y.o.) are attached to primary schools, as they are called pre-school education. They are covered by government, except of the food (around 100 euros per month).

The private ones, prices depends on the school system. English speaking, bilingual, spanish, ...

Personally I found system not very good, too short hours, complicated for working families, not so good after-school care.
