Hi, I am a US citizen who came to Poland to stay with my girlfriend. Things were going very well so I decided to move here and before passing the three months free visa to be in Poland , I applied for Temporary residency permit. It has passed about 3 months and still waiting for the TRC decision. However, things are not going so well now with my girlfriend and also there is not many job opportunities unless you speak Polish. I am thinking to return to US but I don’t know if I can leave after contacting the immigration office to withdraw my TRC application and I am afraid that in the future they won’t let me visiting Europe. Please help

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I don't think you'll have any problem leaving Poland, the TRC is by definition a temporary document and you would have had to leave when it expired anyway.

As for coming back, you apply for a Schengen visa like every other US citizen would; just Google "US citizens apply for Schengen visa" when you need to do it. The new ETIAS system will be in place later this year, so it will be worthwhile checking that out as well, this link will take you straight to it.

Just make sure that you leave Poland in an orderly manner and don't leave anything behind that may cause you legal problems in the future.
