Is there an advantage of being a real estate agent in Canada
as far as work possibilities in the dr?

Bob K

An advantage would be that you are used to dealing with real estate sales and clients.
There is no lic required or experience required and in many cases unfortunatly no ethics required.

Hola.   Thanks for the heads up on real estate agents.  I am not ready to buy any real estate in the DR yet,  but I have looked online at some of the apt/condos available.   The prices seem reasonable, and some appear to be a good investment/ winter getaway.
I don't know, however, about the other fees and factors involved in the ownership of a DR apt/condo.  I know this is a broad, general question, but does anyone have any brief comments/ thoughts on this topic they wish to share?
Gracias.

Buying real estate here is pretty easy and straight forward. The fees involved are:
Lawyer who will write the purchase contract as well as do a title search to make sure property is free of incumberences. Thier fee is usually 1%=1.5% of the purchase price.
Transfer taxes can is usually 3.5% of assesed value of the proeprty which is almost always less then the selling price.
We always tell clients the fees are about 5-5.5% of purchase.

Thanks greatly for the information.   I was also wondering about monthly fees and obligations for an apt/condo in the DR, once purchased.   I see some listed for under $50M.  As the DR continues to become more popular, perhaps they are a good investment to consider.

Most condos have a HOA fee and this can range between $100-$300 or so depending on the services provided.
Real estate here generally has been a good investment if purchase are made in the right places.
