Books For Kids

We need your help with an initiative to get our children to read. As many of you know, access to books in the Dominican Republic is very difficult. We do not have libraries in the traditional ways we were accustomed to in the States and elsewhere. With this in mind, we've created a special Amazon Book Wishlist filled with enchanting stories, educational treasures, and mind-expanding adventures that will spark the imagination and foster a love for learning in our little ones.

Now we're inviting you to join hands with us and be a part of this wonderful endeavor. We are creating a public-library-like style of book lending initiative with the thought process of creating not only reading habits, but also developing the tact of caring for something.

We are starting this initiative in conjunction with Futuro Lleno de Esperanza headed by Melanie Lynne and her wonderful team.

We will work directly with teachers and families to building a culture of respect towards books and learning. We have already seen how grassroots initiatives can deeply impact the love of reading.

Please join us on pave the future for our children; if we change the outlook of ONE child, we have made a difference.

This is awesome.  Beyond the Beach Foundation in Canada tried something on the north coast a few years ago. Maybe their experience would be helpful?

It breaks my heart there is almost no culture of reading here. I buy books for individual children and replace what they have read along the way.

I will certainly support this!

[at]planner its absolutely heartbreaking to me. I grew up in NYC and we had endless supply of books. I am of the believe that taking the time to read a page on a book and eventually the entire book, creates the patience and attention to details that will later in life give us the skills to live and thrive in any society.
