SAB Overseas Claim Outstanding Balance

Hello,

When I left Saudi after one year SAB blocked my account. I did made sure my account was 0.00 when I went through customs, but the transfers I made 10 days before and 1 day before I left were cancelled and were put back on the account.

Now I need to fill in a lot of papers and need to do this:

HSBC authorized representatives should attest and sign on all the documents and ID’s presented by the customer. Claim should be made through one of HSBC branches in the country where the customer is located. In case there are no HSBC Branches or the Saudi mission in the customer's country of residence, the amount of the balance is not transferred to the customer unless a request from him/her authenticated by the correspondent bank as per SAMA guidelines.

Now here in Belgium the HSBC branch does not do any private banking. Can somebody explain what I now need to do? I can read I need to file a request from my correspondent bank. Did somebody had to do this before? What did the request look like?

Thanks for your help !

SAMA Guideliens:

If the request to freeze the account of an expatriate is made after his final exit from

Saudi Arabia, and if the account balance is less than SAR (50,000), banks may

transfer the money to the owner with the approval of the bank's compliance

department, according to procedures set by the bank depending on the customers,

their countries and signature checks. However, if the account balance is over SAR

(50,000), the money shall only be transferred to the owner upon a request approved

by the correspondent bank of the local bank or the branch of the resident foreign bank.

Banks are not allowed to transfer only part of the balance. The balance shall only be

transferred abroad to the account holder or the legal agent of his/her heirs upon the

approval of the compliance department.

. The correspondent

bank shall verify that copies provided for all the required documents, even

documents certified by the Saudi embassy, are true copies of the original

documents. Deposit, withdrawal and transfer shall be carried out by the

correspondent bank. Documents may be completed by a correspondent bank

residing in the GCC country of the company that is one of the Saudi bank

partners in capital and technical management or by the branches of Saudi banks

in the GCC country. The final responsibility for the customer data shall rest

with the bank operating in Saudi Arabia

There are many other references to correspondent bank.  To keep it simple, you need to know WHO is the correspondent bank for SAB for remittances to Belgium via SWIFT.  Then approach them and they will verify your documents as above.  Essentially, they will certify that your documents (proof of identity etc.) are original.
