Someone In my chat group reported the a bank he uses to send money transfers to himself was rejected at the bank here because the stamp in his passport was over the 30 days. He used Remitly. Anyone else had this issue yet? Can someone who knows a lawyer confim a change in policy it would be a important issue to be aware of thanks.

I usually just keep checks from USA bank account and deposit in DR scotiabank account , no fees just wait 12 days for check to post in account. Saves money unless you need funds immediately.

@Gman123 I transfer money from Bank of America to banco de Reserva  I have gone to bank here and take large amounts to finish my pool and all the bank does for security reason is look at my passport pic page to verify name and passport number sence is what I used to open bank account. But they have never look at the stamp and i been here since November 25 2022.

hope this helps.

I thought the passport stamp only came into play when you were opening an account. As Rich said, since that initial opening of the account, our bank has never looked at anything other than the picture page of our passports.

I also bank at Banco de Reserva ,   And they look at the passport # to make sure it’s on the account and also to make sure it current  ( date expiration ) , I’ve never seen them look for a. Stamp……

ddmcghee

@Andrew Roy Check the banks' websites for the latest rates. It depends on the product. Also, we try to keep threads on track, and this one is about bank transfers and passport requirements.
