Getting the ball rolling!

Hello!

I am interested in moving to Panama w/ my 7 year old and 2 small dogs.

I am hoping for recommendations on communities for us to explore this summer.

I am not interested in big cities and am planning on regaining my Spanish speaking skills ASAP.

A place with a school near by  and not a ton of big business around would be excellent.

Really looking for a place with community and local, small business to support and become a part of.

For affordability purposes probably super close to a beach if not in a beach town.. but open to all areas!

Are farmers markets a thing in Panama?

@Creatingexitplan Pedasi, Las Tablas, Santiago, Penonome, Volcan, Boquete, David and nearby towns come to mind.

We live in David in Chiriqui province. Most of the produce for the country is grown in the highlands above us so there are many farmers markets, and you can buy whatever is in season from people selling at roadside stands or out of the back of their trucks.

Spanish is very helpful. http://yairatutoria.com/  She's great, and has a son not much older than your kid. She's born and raised here so she can tell you about the country from the POV of a parent.
