Waiting Time

Hi everyone😊 I applied for my D7 visa about 15 weeks ago from the Cape Town consulate in South Africa. In your opinion, when waiting for your visa to be processed, how long is too long? At what point should someone consider hiring a lawyer to help find out why the process is taking so long?

(I read about a fellow facebook group member who applied from the same consulate as me and she applied 8 months ago and she's still waiting, that really spooked me. There have been plenty of people who have applied from the CT consulate who have gotten their visa within 4 months, I just want to know what to do once I cross the 4-month mark of waiting. Should I consider hiring a lawyer, or email the consulate more often or should I just stay put and continue waiting patiently?)

Hi Guilhermina, Welcome.

The only feedback we have here about South Africa is from the consulate in Durban. I don't think a lawyer will speed up the appointment process.

I hope that there are members here on the forum who will also give their opinion.
