Hi all. I’m a Canadian citizen married to a Turkish citizen and we want to move to Turkiye for at least 2 years then we will take it from there.
I’m aware that I need a resident visa but how and where to get? Do I have to apply here in Canada(we are in Canada now) or apply in Turkiye?

Does this “buy a house to get a resident visa” still applies to me if I’m married with a Turkish citizen? Is there a visa for people who are married to citizens? For example, after we got married my partner applied under “spouse visa” to live with me.

It is called the family residence permit. You do not need to buy a home or anything else. Being married to a turkish citizen is enough to apply for it.

you can even obtain the citizenship after 3 years of marriage not just visa, hope it answers the question 🙂

@pearluk I'm a Canadian also married to a Turk and we recently moved to Turkey. Your spouse will sponsor you for a family residence permit. You do that once you're in Turkey. You can enter on a tourist visa and then I recommend applying for the family residence permit as soon as possible.
