SHIPPING A DOG TO PORTUGAL

We are in the process of planning our relocating to Portugal.  Any suggestions on transporting pets there?  We have a Scottish Terrier of about 12 lbs.

Max & Lana

I drowe a Grand Danois down to Tomar for a relocating danish family by car in the spring this year, the family flew down, and i got there 2 days later with a load of bagage (25 big moving boxes, that would have needed shipping too) and their dog :-)

They didnt want their slightly nervous dog tru all the stress of flight transport, its not a small dog, the cost was about the same, where i got around 1000 euro for my time, an all expences paid.

And i had a few days driving around in PT while there :-)

Win / Win

I would probably fly with him. You need a valid rabies vaccine for entry. Make sure you get it early enough before your departure.

There are three things you will need to bring your pet to Portugal from a non-EU country.

  • Microchip. Your pet must have an ISO compliant chip. ...
  • Vaccination and blood tests. You will need to show proof of a rabies vaccination of your pet. ...
  • Health Certificate. A health certificate must be issued by an accredited vet.
