Freelancer's paradise

Written byMaxim Buyakovon 16 November 2010

Mildest climate, friendly people, good service, overall safety, warm sea and breathtaking mountains all come in one coctail in Montenegro (Crna Gora), and at a great discount

I am a language translator, therefore I am in business anywhere wi-fi or GSM can reach. So, here we go - this is a fabulous place for my family and me indeed!

Expect service/friendliness at supermarkets at levels ascribed to Japan. Service staff often/normally speaks English.

Top January temperatures in Crna Gora reach +22C, and lows are at +9C. And it does not go far beyond +30C in July along the coast.

Locals live the lifestyle of retired millionaires in their villas, and yet the average income is said to be about EUR 300 per month.

It is possible to rent a floor in such a villa for the same EUR 300 per month + EUR 100 utilities under an annual rent agreement.

This is also one of smallest countries in Europe with just above 0.5M population.

There are about a dozen municipalities/areas in the country, and within those locals practically know each other by face.

Montenegro (Crna Gora) is reachable from most european hubs by Montenegro Airlines.

There are cars with US license plates here (not to mention all European countries from GB and Ireland to Russia and Belarus). Road police is friendly.

Other than the road police, I'd say this is a self-policed society, tolerant and safe.

Practically every other villa in coastal areas is offered for sale, some as low as 60K euro including backyard. But local bank mortgage is not available to foreigners.
