Daegu has a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of $24,767, compared to more than double this amount in the country's capital of Seoul. However, Daegu has various specialised sectors, such as textiles, metals and machinery manufacturing. It is also one of the main industrial areas of the country.
Daegu's economy has been growing rapidly for the past years with a rise in the textile and clothing industries.

Seongseo, on the other hand, specialises in high technology for the automotive industry and machinery, while Technopolis is dedicated to high-tech manufacturing science based on green energy, electronics and telecommunications.

Gyeongsan is a student area with several university and training institutes. If you are looking for a commercial shopping area with large malls and entertainment facilities, Easiapolis is the right address. Here, you can not only buy almost anything you like, but the area is also home to a design school and other educational institutions. Other parts of Daegu also boast institutions, organisations and companies devoted to medical research and medicine, as well as logistics.
