How to open a bank account in Tunisia as an expat?
In general, foreign residents in Tunisia are entitled to the following facilities:
- performing debit or credit transactions with third parties
- free access to account management services
- check accounts and other relating services
- subscription to a national bank card
- investment.
As regards related formalities, you are required to produce the following documents:
- your national identity card or your resident certificate
- your latest payslips or other supporting documents
- proof of address.
As regards the deposit, the amount generally varies from one bank to another. Make sure to inquire with the selected bank beforehand.

Good to know:
Some banks will issue a checkbook to new account holders at least three months following the opening of the account. They will assess the account management beforehand. However, the bank card is issued upon the opening of the account.
How to open a bank account in Tunisia remotely?
Most Tunisian banks provide remote bank account opening facilities. Take the time to check the selected bank's website. In some cases, banks will require you to download the application document, print and duly fill and sign it before sending it to them. Others will simply require you to fill out an online document.
