Premium Visa in Mauritius
The Premium Visa, issued free of charge, is intended for tourists already in Mauritius with the appropriate visa, retirees or foreign professionals to come and live in Mauritius, alone or with their family for a period ranging from 6 months to 1 year over the calendar period, with an option to renew.
Premium Visa holders are allowed to apply for an Occupation Permit to work or invest in Mauritius or apply for a Residence Permit in Mauritius as a retired non-citizen by applying to the EDB in advance.
They may also purchase a property in Mauritius marketed under the:
- Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS);
- Real Estate Scheme (RES);
- Property Development Scheme (PDS);
- Smart City Scheme (SCS);
- R 2 (Apartment).
Requirements to apply for a Premium Visa
To apply for a Premium visa, eligible foreigners have to comply with the following conditions:
- Produce a certificate of project in the framework of this long stay;
- Have international travel and health insurance covering the initial period of the stay;
- Promise not to join the Mauritian labor market;
- Work and receive income and profits from a company located outside Mauritius;
- Present documentary evidence supporting the application, such as the purpose of the visit, accommodation, etc.;
- Meet other basic immigration requirements.
How to apply for a Mauritius Premium Visa?
The procedure is simple and free of charge online, on the EDB website:
- Book your round-trip flight;
- Apply for a Premium Visa online;
- Receive the visa by e-mail;
- Book accommodation in Mauritius;
- Come to Mauritius;
- Notify the EDB in case of change of address during the stay in Mauritius.
The documents to be provided at the time of application are:
- A valid passport
- A copy of your return flight tickets
- A passport-size photo
- Travel and health insurance covering the entire period of your stay
- Proof of sufficient funds to support you and your family during your stay, such as a bank statement and a valid email address
Good to know:
Spouses and children, including stepchildren and legally adopted children, may also apply for a residence permit for a period not exceeding the holder's one.
