My family and I just moved to Belize

Greetings,

    I just read your post on the blog and would like to ask you some questions.  I have a similar situation as yourself.  I have a wife and 3 kids, but we have not moved to Belize, yet.  I would like to know what you found most challenging about the move.  Could you elaborate a little on the prepartaion and costs?  Thank you for posting this and I hope we can meet when my family and I move to Belize.

if you are moving to Belize City put your kids through a small arms course and buy Kevlar

I am looking for a serious reply.  Stating something like a gun course and kevlar is not helpful at all.

I have a very similar question. I'm 43, my wife is 46, and I have a 7 year old daughter. I'm closing on the sale of my insurance agency at the end of this month and we're going to spend a couple of months in Belize, starting in June of this year, to see if it's right for us. I don't even know where to begin...renting a house, transportation, activities, etc. I've read quite a bit on the Internet, but as with everything else, there are often opposing views. I was thinking about just starting an insurance agency for expat health insurance, but have no idea about the red tape I'd have to go through. Just looking for a little insight into what I'm getting myself (and my family) in to. Thank you in advance...
