Expats have especially been planning their vacations overseas after spending more than a year and a half away from home and their loved ones. It's worth noting that the international approval of vaccines administered in Mauritius has also taken a lot of time. Many European countries, for example, have only approved AstraZeneca Covishield after intense lobbying by stranded expats. Also, in spite of quarantine and isolation rules introduced by certain countries, a lot of expats have been prevented from travelling from the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius.
